Hansa.net Global Commerce, Inc. ("Hansa.net"), Caribis Corp. ("Caribis"), and Hansa Bank & Trust Company Limited ("Hansa Bank") announce a joint venture to provide development facilities to incubate and deploy Internet banking technologies in an operational environment in Anguilla
The joint venture will be launched in January with the installation of a fully secure development center with state of the art Internet based secure banking and e-commerce technology. Initial activities will involve the commissioning of Hansa Bank's own online banking software (see Primacy press release December 1, 1999, http://www.hansa.net/9dec12.htm)
Dean Hagman, Managing Director of Caribis says, " For over 15 years, our principals have been involved in international technology development for secure payment processing and e-commerce solutions. We have chosen to do our future work in Anguilla due to our close relationship with our joint venture partners and the confidential, live environment they can provide for our tests and pilots. Our major international banking clients require this type of incubator facility to protect their development investments in the volatile and competitive financial system markets in which they operate. Our partnership with the Hansa organizations will provide a showcase for highly secure, leading edge Internet based payment and banking technologies which are expected to be subsequently adopted by large financial institutions around the world."
Lynwood Bell, President of Hansa.net and Chairman of the Hansa Bank says, " The Caribis joint venture is a perfect example of the use of Anguilla as a Technology Campus for Internet and other technological development. It was the Campus concept that drew Caribis here and we are pleased that Dean Hagman has also accepted a position on our Hansa.net Technical Advisory Board. We expect Anguilla to be the home of some exciting products from the Caribis venture and that this will draw other major corporations to incubate their ideas here."
Caribis, an Anguillian technology company, will provide the system and software from their extensive experience with Internet banking, payment gateway, and secure financial system products. The Hansa Bank will provide the legal infrastructure and bank security for pilot testing of these products. Hansa.net will participate in bringing additional strategic partners to the joint venture.
